Manchester United Have Revealed Their Historic 2018/18 Home Kit
Hello reader. Do you know what we here at UK Soccer Shop love? No, not when Norwich lose. We love it when we’re shown a kit that reflects a club’s heritage. Whether it’s the Tyne Bridge appearing on Newcastle’s away kit, or simply the club’s foundation date appearing on the nape. It suggests that the club hasn’t lost touch with its roots. No matter how far they’ve come. One such kit that has done this is Manchester United’s. I know. We showed you their commemorative 1968 kit, their third kit, and their away kit. Now it’s probably best to show you their home kit. Better late than never.
The Red Devils have gotten off to a rocky start. That’s no secret. Jose Mourinho has had to sit through (and walk out of) some pretty tough press conferences. Furthermore, armchair pundits are wondering why the manager keeps players like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the bench and plays the lumbering (admittedly occasionally excellent) Fellaini instead. Many fans are already calling for the Portuguese manager to step down.
To take our minds off of Manchester United’s turbulent start, we want to bring you the club’s home kit.
It’s red and features a number of black, horizontal lines rising up from the bottom. This, according to the press release represents train tracks. These train tracks are reflective of the club’s roots. Having been founded by the Carriage and Waggon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway company, the club would play against other departments and railway depots.
The reason for this misty-eyed reflection of the past is because 2018 marks the 140th year since its foundation. Furthermore, the shoulders feature Adidas’ trademark stripes and the kit incorporates Climacool technology. Allowing players to feel completely calm, cool, and collected when trying to get results back on track.
