West Ham’s 2018/19 Home and Away Kits by Umbro

Some of the busiest places on earth include the Arc de Triumph in a car, St. Paul’s Cathedral during the Pope’s mass, and West Ham’s London stadium after a game. Fans exciting have reported it taking so much longer than actually necessary and really rubs the salt into a loss – of which they’ve seen their fair share.

While the club finished the season safe from Championship football, their change of stadium have meant that the last couple of seasons have been tricky. Perhaps, if a change of stadium only hinders the team’s performance, a change of kit might be just the ticket to success, at least finishing in the top half of the table.

The 2018/19 home and away kits are designed by Umbro, the company who specialise in creating classical kits which reflect a team’s heritage. We saw a couple of great examples of Umbro’s design with Everton and PSV, both simple and stunning. West Ham’s kit seems to follow a similar pattern to these two examples – the sleeves are tapered with a continuous Umbro logo, and is completed with horizontal stripes on the burgundy colour base. The sleeves of the home kit don’t feature this pattern and by setting the sleeves apart from the body, it really does create an excellently simple look.

The away kit is really something quite nice. The burgundy is replaced with a muted blue, darker than the colour of the sleeves, and while it doesn’t feature the same body stripes, a bright yellow makes up the club’s crest and Umbro’s logo.

The club are taking the exiting queue times into consideration and are looking to improve on these. We do hope that next season the Hammers can stay up and get back to winning ways, so perhaps this stylish new kit is exactly what they need to compete with clubs at the top of the table.
