Rangers are one of the most dominant league sides in football history, having won the Scottish League title a record 55 times. Given this kind of history, it is no surprise that the club has had many memorable seasons, sides and kits alike. However, the 1996/1997 season was special. The side from Glascow won the Scottish Premier Division and won the Scottish League Cup, and although they exited the Champions League in the group stages, the style of football and names associated with the team made it all the better. This Rangers side featured legends of the game, for example, the English maverick Paul Gascoigne, the Danish wizard Brian Laudraup, and Ranger‘s legend Ally McCoist. The below kit was the shirt the side wore during this season.
This kit is special. The deep blue Rangers colouring is prominent, but the added white and red across the shirt gives the kit far more style than a typically plain blue kit. The racing stripes that sliver across the shoulder and down the front match perfectly with the wide collar, and the mix of red, white and blue contrast the overall shade of the shirt perfectly. The plain sponsorship in white, in collaboration with the white traditional Ranger‘s symbol rather than simple badge, make for a truly memorable kit. This kit is one of a kind, a reminder of both a memorable team and also of a truly well-designed kit.
