Lampard is the new manager of Derby County. It was confirmed just a month ago and everyone is wondering what he’ll be like. Being so new to the managerial world, the former Chelsea midfielder is untested. There was a close shave for Ipswich Town as Lampard’s managerial appointment odds were slashed to 12/1 but in the end, they opted for Paul Hurst, former Shrewsbury man. The club have teamed up with Umbro and new sponsors: 32Red to create a kit that is both simple, iconic, bold, and eye-catching.
We at UK Soccer Shop really like Derby County’s new design but will it be enough to boost the Rams back into the Premier League?
The kit colour of the body is dark blue. This deep colour acts as the perfect canvas for the white writing of Umbro, the club’s crest and latest sponsors – 32Red. This makes sure that nothing is lost or crowded out on the front.
The sleeves have the trademark Umbro tapering across the bottom of the sleeves. The tapering is done in luminous green, so even if the floodlights go out on their travels, Derby County’s players will always be able to find the back of the net.
On the nape of the jersey are the words “The Rams”, this is in recognition of the less formal side of the club. Commemorating every fan that makes the trip to Pride Park Stadium on a weekly basis.
It’s looking like it’ll be an incredibly interesting season for Championship football. Plenty of fresh managerial faces in the dugouts of many teams and a renewed feeling that anything is possible. This new away kit from Derby County is bold and striking, but will it, together with Lampard’s latest signings be enough to push for promotion and compete with the titans of English football? Only time will tell.
