Ipswich Town’s 2018/19 Home and Away Kits Revealed
It’s quite possibly the most exciting time to be an Ipswich Town fan. They might have been in the Championship longer than any other team but today they announced the arrival of Paul Hurst. The ex-Shrewsbury manager is taking the helm and fans can’t be more excited. Okay, they didn’t get Jack Ross from St. Mirren. But still, it’s great that they’ve got a new, upcoming manager. To enhance the excitement and beckon in a new era at the club, Ipswich also revealed the 2018/19 kits.
The jerseys are dominated by the new sponsor, something that was feared when concept kits began surfacing. While Magical Vegas’ sponsorship will bring in an estimated £4 million over the next four years, are the fans’ concerns justified?
The concept kits, designed by HXZ were hailed as a creative triumph. They were tastefully designed, simple, and uncluttered. Each one had neat lines which expressed perfect dynamics and seemed to reflect the club’s heritage.
The home kit, modelled by Andre Dozzell and Luke Chambers, is gloriously bright blue. Its sleeves are coloured white with blue and red tapering, to match the unique secondary colour of the sponsor. The shoulders feature three red stripes in the classic Adidas style and seem to be the second most controversial element. Why red?
The away kit is modelled by Martin Waghorn. The bold orange has a checker board pattern running underneath. Perhaps it could be argued that the orange is reflective of the 2004-06 away kit, however that’s only because of the colouring.
The author if this piece is an Ipswich fan. Therefore we at UK Soccer Shop truly hope that 2018/19 could be the season that they finally break back into the Premier League. Was getting rid of Mick McCarthy a mistake? Will Paul Hurst be the saving grace or will they slide to the bottom of League one?
