Boca Juniors Drop Unique “Swedish” Third Jersey

Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors have released their third jersey for the 2024 season. In collaboration with German manufacturer Adidas, Boca will celebrate the club’s 119th anniversary with a new home shirt.

The jersey is primarily the classic blue of Boca Juniors but the stand out piece of the strip is the gold cross graphic that runs across the front. This cross represents the Swedish flags, a country that Boca has origins too.

In 1906, Boca Juniors played Nottingham de Almagro in nearly identical shirts, leading to a match to determine ownership. Boca lost and adopted the colours of the first ship at La Boca’s port, a Swedish one, resulting in the adoption of yellow and blue as their team colours.

Boca will be determined to have a successful season in 2024. A poor 2023 league season was worsened as the club narrowly lost the Copa Libertadores to Brazilian side Fluminense.

What do you make of the new Boca third shirt?
