To celebrate their promotion to 2. Bundesliga, we showed you what Magdeburg’s new home kit looked like. It was simple and complete, but we weren’t quite sure what we thought about it. This time, it’s the turn of Borussia Dortmund to show off their kit. Designed by Puma, it’s more than likely that you’ll love this kit. We know we do. While they may not have finished above Schalke 04, the North-West German side are still at the top of German football. See what you think of their new kit.
The body is their classic bright yellow. Bold and easily picked out in a forty yard ping, while making sure that the logos aren’t lost or dulled down. At the top of the chest sits the club’s crest, complete with their two stars gained for the five Bundesliga titles, and Puma’s logo.
While the body of the top is great and shouts tradition and boldness, it is really the sleeves which are most striking. Opting for a faded, almost threadbare black on the shoulders, the kit top is instantly given more depth and a materialistic dynamic which isn’t seen with many clubs. Halfway down the sleeves the black breaks and the gorgeous, bright yellow
On the nape of the jersey are the letters BVB, subtle but effective in a sea of bright yellow. The word “Dortmund” sits at the bottom of the back adding another excellent, bold detail.
Next season, these titans of football, led by manager Peter Stöger will push for the title and while the league may be competitive, this new home kit is certainly going to make the players stand out.
Whether you love or hate the faded sleeves, the kit does do something unlike many others and if we can let you into a secret, we here at UK Soccer Shop actually quite like it.
