PSV. They’re the team that you sometimes mistake for PSG. Well, this author does, anyway. A few weeks ago we showed you the club’s away kit. Here’s their home jersey.
They play at the very highest heights of Dutch football. PSV finished their 2017/18 campaign in first place of the Eredivisie. Four points ahead of the mighty Ajax and 12 points ahead of AZ Alkmaar. While the Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, they’ll be more than content waiting for next season to begin. These same fans will be quite happy with the names coming into their club and almost 20 million pounds being spend on new talent. The question on all fans’ lips is whether PSV can win the title again. Can they retain their top spot or will they fall victim to Ajax’ wrath?
To give the team some momentum going into their 2018/19 campaign, PSV have teamed up with Umbro to create a home kit that is simple, familiar, and stylishly-presented.
The kit colours are white and red. To change these after such a successful season might send fans into uproar. The pattern is vertical, medium stripes that run across the front of the jersey and the top and bottom of the back. Most of the back of the kit is blank red, allowing for the player’s name and number to stand out clearly.
This stand-out element can be seen once again on the front. There is a large white rectangular section where the club’s sponsor appears. By opting for this blank canvas on top of the stripes, it ensures that each element remains uncluttered.
The sleeves feature Umbro’s 2018/19 trademark tapering. The designer’s logo is inter-linked around almost all of the sleeve. Only taking a break under the arms.
Finally, the nape of the kit features the letters ‘PSV’ inside a newly designed logo.
We really like this home kit and can’t wait to see it compete next season. It’s going to be exciting in the Eredivisie!
