New Football Kits

Hong Kong Have Released Their 2018/19 Home Kit by Nike

Hong Kong Might Not be Known for Their Football. But Here’s Their Home Kit.

Hong Kong, according to Wikipedia is an autonomous territory and former English colony. The skyline is riddled with skyscrapers and it’s a famous shopping destination, especially for those in the market for tailoring. The most common question with regards to the territory, on Google is, ‘is Hong Kong a country? Apparently, its proper name is Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region, China. Their flag is a white, five-petalled Hong Kong orchid tree flower on a red background.

But that’s enough about their culture and what makes the country so special, we’re here to talk about football. More specifically, their latest home kit.

The jersey is red. We recently saw Hungary’s home kit, which was also red, however Hong Kong is even simpler. The jersey’s body is dark red. Running horizontally across it are a number of lighter stripes. This gives Hong Kong’s home kit some positive shape and allows for Nike’s iconic Swoosh and the country’s crest to sit firmly ontop. Furthermore, in the same style as the stripes, we can see an outline of the same five-petalled flower that appears within the territory’s flag.

The sleeves are a lighter shade of red which gives the kit a perfect contrast. This contrast adds character to a kit that already seems to have plenty. The shorts that accompany this home jersey are also a lighter shade of red and the socks appear to be white. At least the tops of them are white.

When a kit is designed by Nike, they usually utilise the nape in a subtle way. Nike uses the space to put a stripe or two containing the kit or club’s crest colours. Here, they’ve opted for white and red, in line with the colours of the flag.
