If you’ve sat watching this year’s World Cup, you will have seen Iceland play football. It’s enthusiastic, clumsy, but inspiring. They put England out at the 2016 Euros in France, now they’ve put Argentina on the ropes. When the team sent England home, they shot to prominence. Everyone loved them. Afterall, it’s England. What you might have noticed is their iconic chant. The slow hand clap done all at once. When watching Iceland it seems positively Viking. It captured pundits’ imaginations but it has origins in Scotland. More precisely, Motherwell. Now anyone that likes football, or even has a mild interest in it has learnt this fact. This fact hasn’t taken any shine away and we really hope the country doesn’t go out early at this year’s World Cup.
Scotland didn’t make the trip to Russia. Not the team anyway. While this is mostly to blame on the qualification, it allows them to focus on next season. Will Celtic remain champions of the SPL and will Hearts every catch up with Hibernian? These are important questions. Questions that will be answered in a year’s time. Right now, clubs are releasing kits left, right, and centre.
Here’s Motherwell’s latest home and away kits.
The kits themselves feature the club colours in different styles. Due to the subdued colouring, the kit retains simplicity and balanced style.
The home kit is mainly subdued yellow with burgundy characteristics. While this kit does appear to be sleek and simple, it has a well-designed neckline, creating a ‘V’ at the front.
The sleeves are yellow. There is no tapering and although the kit is well designed, this tapering might be a design choice that doesn’t go down so well with the fans.
Under the club’s crest is the year that the club was founded: 1886.
The away kit’s main colouring in burgundy. While the club’s crest features prominently on the home kit, the away opts for the letters ‘M T L’ in classic-looking writing, running diagonally.
Next season promises to be exciting for Scottish football. We at UK Soccer Shop cannot wait. Attention is currently directed at Iceland in the World Cup but it will soon be headed towards Scottish football and Motherwell.
