Grimsby Town FC Release Their 2018/19 Home and Away Kits

It’s the news that the world has been waiting for. They’ve constantly been checking but it hasn’t quite been confirmed. No, it isn’t the Trump and North Korean summit, no, it’s also not the start of the World Cup. It’s the announcement of Grimsby Town’s 2018/19 home and away kits. The club finished their League Two season in 18th place. Five points above the relegation spots and with everything to play for next season. While the league might be saying goodbye to titans like Luton Town and Stanley, there is still fierce competition. Everyone wants the chance to play in the third tier so the club will need a promotion-worthy kit.

Has Errea, the Italian sportswear company delivered?

The black and white, vertical stripes are a winning design. Newcastle and Juventus don’t use it without reason. The simple pattern makes sure that the kit doesn’t look crowded or too simple.

The neckline is a red, white, and black crossover collar. Something seen with many modern, bold designs. This colour combination matches Grimsby’s crest and is seen tapering the sleeves.

It has become a contentious topic here at UK Soccer Shop. When is a kit sponsor too dominating? When does it work and when does it look strange? Watford certainly get away with their sponsor – Fx Pro, because it fits in with the colour scheme, however Ipswich Town’s garish sponsor can detract from the overall design. Here, Grimsby Town FC have certainly gotten away with it. While Youngs, Britain’s leading frozen fish supplier, is large and dominating, its colouring is in-keeping with the rest of the kit. It is certainly not cod-awful. (We’re not even sorry).

The away kit is where the real quality in simplicity is shown. The red body, black sleeves and red tapering really make for an effective combination. The faded pattern across the sleeves and the breathable technology make it not only a stylish kit, but also one of practical excellence. it is also worth mentioning that the club celebrates its 140th anniversary this year and so this is commemorated within the neckline.
