New Football Kits

You Have to See Manchester City’s 2018/19 Home Kit

They’re the champions. The 2017/18 Premier League champions. Manchester City finish their season in first place, well above their rivals Manchester United and also Leicester City: winners of the highest tier of English football only three seasons previously. In an interview, Sky Blues’ manager Pep Guardiola said that winning the PL was “very special,” but also “very tough.” However, what the Spanish coach failed to mention is that Nike have released the 2018/19 kit and it is stunning!

Yesterday, we showed you what Bundesliga titans Borussia Dortmund’s new home kit, featuring its legendary yellow and a sleeve pattern which might prove to be quite familiar here.

The kit top is sky blue, cutting out at the sleeves and featuring physical lines running horizontally across the chest. These physical lines only seem to highlight the club’s crest and Nike Swoosh, as well as their long-term sponsors: Etihad Airways. The neckline closes at the front with a singular button, this makes for a more completed look and gives definition to the style.

The sleeves though. That is where the kit is truly made and Borussia Dortmund’s kit starts to look very similar – stylistically. The darker lines leading towards the chest give further definition to the jersey. Dortmund’s style is similar – it breaks the yellow on the sleeves up with black, but the author’s only stipulation (which wasn’t mentioned yesterday) is that it breaks halfway down the sleeve then continues at the bottom, this might look a little scruffy and not quite so dynamic (but each to their own). Manchester City’s kit, on the other hand, looks more complete – featuring the whole way down the sleeves and linking up with the physical lines across the centre .

Whether the champions can now retain the title will be seen next season but for now, we just want to enjoy Nike’s newest release – complete with stylish Swoosh.
