The recently released USA third kits have been widely derided by supporters and in the media. While some dismiss it as hand-me-downs from other nations, others have been positive.
Nike stuck to their template and issued an all-red kit similar to that worn by England and European champions, Portgual. The sportswear giant limited its’ scope for originality with the jaded template. Red and darker red on the sleeves? It’s hard to be innovative with a very familiar look.
USA 2017 Third Kit
This is the derided Nike USA third kit
The Gym Red shirt comes with “Metallic Silver” accents while wthe dark red effect on the sleeves is achieved with a series of dark and light pinstripes.
On the collar, a brighter red tag, “USA” in the middle of the back while each cuff features motifs of “1 Nation” and “1 Team”. Inspired by “One Nation Under A Groove“, perhaps?
Gym Red shorts and socks, incorporating silver Nike Swooshes, complete the kit.
Criticism of the kit centered around the repetitive nature of the design, with Bleacher Report graphics pointing out the others who wear similar kits.

Is this the end of templates for kits or should the USSF have insisted on Nike providing a fresh look for the men’s and women’s teams? All-in-all, for the first third kit issued in five years, this USA design is thoroughly unferwhelming.
