A year ago, Jonathan Heimes a devoted supporter of German Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 lost his battle against cancer.
On Saturday, the club honoured his memory with a one-off kit which they wore for their league match at home to FS Mainz o5. They didn’t let him down either, winning 2 – 1. It isn’t enough to move them to safety but they have hope of survival, albeit a faint one.
SV Darmstadt 98 Tribute Kit
This is the kit Darmstadt wore in tribute to Jonathan:
All white, the kit features a message across the chest “Du Musst Kämpfen” – You have to fight – which is the name of the family’s foundation set up in his memory.
Underneath, the motto “Jetzt Erst Recht” – A Good Reason – completes the chest band. The bank details for donations are on the inside of the necktape on the inside of the collar.
Jako, the club’s technical partner, keeps their motifs and logos in white, creating a translucent effect. The design keeps the focus on the memory of Johnny.
Completing his memory is his date of birth and death below the collar on the back of the shirt. White shorts and socks complete the kit.
Darmstadt and Jako are donating the proceeds for each shirt to the foundation.
