Sitting in Dorset and Hamshire over this Summer break, you will be hearing a sigh of relief. While the World Cup rolls on and England look to escape the group stages, the two rivals’ fans sit comfortably at home, knowing that their pride and joy is safe. The two clubs secured Premier League football for another season. While Bournemouth might have avoided relegation comfortably, Southampton FC only escaped the drop by three points (ignoring goal difference). The club will certainly be hoping for a better performance next season. To guide them on their way up the table, Under Armour have designed a kit that is bright, bold, and full of glorious history.
The away kit top colours are yellow and blue. Before we jump to conclusions and say, “wow, that is an interesting colour combination. Not one that I’d have chosen, but that’s just me”. W must read the press release. Apparently, the kit is modelled off of the Saints’ 1976 kit worn during their FA Cup win.
I do think that Southampton’s kit is a bold look. One that I’d presume would be a third kit, but nope, it’s the second. The yellow and blue colour combination lends itself really nicely to the red from the Virgin Media sponsor, as well as the club’s crest itself.
The title or promotional tagline for the kit is “will finds a way” and the club persist with the hashtag – #wemarchon.
We really do hope that next season this kit is seen climbing the table steadily. Whether the club can perform miracles and pull off a title victory looks a little uncertain, however with plenty of transfer rumours to be had, anything could happen.
For now, let the wonderous nature of the World Cup wash over you. When the 2018/19 season kicks off, this kit will be seen up and down the country.
