San Jose Earthquakes 2017 Home Kit Arrives

San Jose Earthquakes, not as iconic as New York Cosmos, Tampa Bay Rowdies or the Los Angeles Aztecs, but a remnant of the NASL days. European fans recall them as the home of George Best, with the familiar names of Vince Hilaire, Bill Foulkes and Jimmy Gabriel all serving the club in the past.

Their new home kit debuted last night against Montreal Impact, with Anibal Godoy scoring the only goal of the game to give the Earthquakes the win.

The club’s crest is the inspiration for the Adidas design. A striking combination of electric blue bars – both angular and horizontal – on a jet black base colour. The shimmering quality of the material provides a vibrant background for the blue accents.

Three Stripes in blue travel the shoulder, as they do down the outside of each leg on the black shorts. Also in the blue, the sleeve cuffs carry the motto, “UNITY DEVOTION HERITAGE”.

On the lower left of the shirt, above the hem, sits the motif, “SJ74”, commemorating the formation of the first San Jose Earthquakes football club.

The earlier club, unrelated to the current franchise, is remembered on the upper back of the shirt as well.

Completing the kit is black socks with electric blue hoops. All in all, it’s pretty cool and another tick in the design box for Adidas.
