Puma: The 10 Best Jerseys

Puma have always been one of the most underrated manufacturers in the footballing world. Over the past decades they have helped create some of the most iconic football shirts in history. In this article we will look at the 10 best Puma jerseys of all time.

AC Milan Fourth 2021/22

Puma

AC Milan’s and Puma’s collaboration with NEMEN kicks off this list. The companies linked up to create a unique fourth kit for the AC Milan men’s and women’s teams.

The jersey was created using Puma’s innovative ULTRAWEAVE technology. This ultra-light engineered fabric is Puma’s lightest performance jersey to date. The shirt itself has a white canvas that covers the upper and lower parts of the jersey. The main body has Milan’s classic red and black stripes along with the Puma and NEMEN logos.

Serbia Away 2018

Puma

The 2018 FIFA World Cup had plenty of stunning jerseys and Serbia’s away shirt was no different. Puma’s unique design really made the strip stand out.

The predominantly white jersey also includes a thick red stripe on the collar and sleeves. A red and blue print down the middle of the shirt is also a nice touch.

Unfortunately for Serbia, their jersey didn’t bring them any luck as they lost all three games at the tournament.

Lazio Home 1999/2000

Puma

The 1999/2000 season was one to remember for Lazio fans. Under the management of Sven-Göran Eriksson, Lazio completed a historic double, winning the Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Puma designed a brilliant shirt which was worn during their historic season. The use of sky blue and dashes of navy helped create a very clean look. Puma centred their logo, moving the club badge to the right of the shirt.

Parma Home 1995-97

Puma

This unique home shirt was worn during legendary coach Nevio Scala’s final season at Parama as well as Carlo Ancelotti’s first season in charge.

The white body of the shirt contrasts brilliantly with the blue and yellow sleeve design, topped off with a lovely collar and the iconic “Parmalat” sponsor.

Leicester Home 2015/16

Puma

Although this jersey is quite simple, it brings back plenty of memories to all football fans. Leicester wore this shirt during their famous Premier League title-winning season, meaning this jersey will forever be in the hearts of all Foxes fans.

The jersey was blue with a small gold neck line, simple and slick. Everyone can remember Vardy, Kante and Mahrez defying the odds while sporting this shirt.

Uruguay Home 2022

Puma

Despite this Uruguay jersey only being released recently, it slots right into this list.

Released ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Uruguay will be playing in style. Their iconic sky blue colours are complemented brilliantly by a white collar and sleeve cuffs. Puma also gave the jersey a singular button, giving the shirt a vintage style.

The team’s nickname of “La Celeste” is printed on the kit’s nape in gold font.

Cameroon Home 2002

Another international shirt, this time it is Cameroon’s home jersey from the 2002 FIFA World Cup. To call this jersey unique is an understatement.

Puma opted to not give the jersey any sleeves, giving it a vest type of look, quite interesting to say the least. Unsurprisingly, FIFA prohibited Cameroon from wearing the jersey unless it had sleeves.

Black cloth was attached to create a sleeve on the vest in order to make sure Cameroon could play their games.

Dortmund Special Edition 2020/21

Dortmund paid homage to their success in the 1990’s with a special edition away jersey. The kit was inspired by their iconic black and neon away strips from the 90’s.

Puma smashed this design, adding some great finer detail to bring the jersey to life. The black and neon contrast looked clean and the body of the shirt included pictures of some of the best moments from their most successful era.

Italy Home 2006

Italy won the 2006 FIFA World Cup in style with this iconic strip. Designed by Englishman Rob Warner, the jersey is predominantly blue with dashes of dark navy throughout the body.

The shirt also includes three gold Puma logos and a centred badge, a shirt worthy of world champions.

Borussia Mönchengladbach Home 1985-87

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s most successful years came in the 1970’s, when they won multiple Bundesliga titles and UEFA Cup’s.

By the time this jersey was released, the trophies had dried up and the club was on a decline. Puma made use of Mönchengladbach’s green, black and white colour combinations for this famous home shirt.

The jersey’s white body complements the green collar and sleeve cuffs brilliantly. Puma also included thin green and black diagonal lines across the shirt. The look is finished off with the Puma logo and club badge having a unique placement, making this shirt unforgettable for all the right reasons.
