Chosen by supporters, Plymouth Argyle have released their 2016/17 home kit. The most southerly and westerly of all English football’s professional clubs, the Pilgrims are hoping to sail into League One at the end of the season after the heartbreak of their play-off final defeat.
PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 2016/17 HOME KIT
This is the kit Plymouth Argyle will wear for their home games during the 2016/17 season.
Made by Puma, the kit retains the club’s traditional green as its’ base colour. Recent seasons have seen the club wear thicker white stripes down the body of the shirt but this time, supporters opted for a white pinstripe design. On the body of the shirt, the right breast is occupied by Puma’s logo whilst the club crest, a depiction of the Pilgrim Fathers ship, the Mayflower, sits on the left.
The v-shaped winged collar is black, as is the band leading from the shoulders down the sleeves. This panel hosts the white Puma logo where the two meet.
The shorts are also green with a black trim down the side of each leg with the kit finished off with green socks with a solid black band in the turnover.
Despite the majority of supporters polled supporting the design, Puma has been criticised in some quarters for using the wrong shade of green. Traditionally, the club wore a lighter green shirt and it’s only in this century that the darker shade has become prevalent.
