This image has been leaked onto the web, purporting to be the Atletico Madrid away kit for 2016/17. It’s slightly different to the earlier design, losing the red collar and cuffs in favour of a clean black shirt. Nike has opted for a gold font and has put all logos and the club crest in that colour.
Following on from a successful season, the 2016/17 kits to be worn by Atletico Madrid have leaked in the Spanish media.
Atletico Madrid 2016/17 Home Kit
Nike have released a design for the Atletico Madrid home kit for next season which relies heavily on the club’s traditions. The red and white stripes remain intact with a stylish touch added by the small winged-collar and two button neckline.
Runners-up in last season’s Champions League and La Liga, Atletico Madrid’s manager, Diego Simeone, was wanted by Arsenal fans to replace Arsene Wenger. It now looks likely the Argentine will stay in the Spanish capital and he won’t be disappointed by next year’s kit.
The body of the shirt and sleeves have evenly-spaced red and white stripes. From the royal blue collar, runs a white stripe across the shoulders and seamlessly into the arms. The cuffs on each sleeve are royal blue, as is Nike’s trademark Swoosh on the right breast. The club crest sits on the left, above a relatively discreet sponsor’s logo in a blue panel on the midriff.
In keeping with the club’s history, the shorts will be royal blue with red socks finishing the kit.
Atletico Madrid 2016/17 Away Kit
On their travels, Atletico will wear an all-black kit. The design is straightforward and unfussy, something of a rarity in this day and age.
Following the path of the home shirt, there is a small winged collar and two-button neckline, this time in red. The sleeves on the shirt have red cuffs. The only other design flourish is the white font used for the sponsor and manufacturer logos, along with the club crest.
It is expected that the shorts will be black but a red option will also be used when there is a clash in Bilbao and other places. The socks are thought to be black.
Atletico Madrid 2016/17 Third Kit
The third kit will be red and green, mirroring the colours worn by the Portuguese national team. Using the same design template as the home and away kits, this is a straightforward offering. The small winged collar and shirt cuffs are in green with a minimum of fuss in their presentation.
Atletico Madrid and Nike have made a strong statement with these classic kits: simple but effective.
