Hannover 96 have released a special commemorative jersey celebrating the 70th anniversary of the clubs 1954 Bundesliga title win. The club’s jersey manufacturer Macron has helped create a stunning dark green jersey with a nostalgic style.
The club won the Bundesliga twice in their history, 1938 and 1954. Rolf Gehrcke is the only member of the 1954 squad that is still alive and the club made sure he had an involvement in the creation of the jersey. Gehrcke spoke of his pride that the jersey has been created, he said “It’s a wonderful thing to be able to honor it like this after 70 years.”
Speaking on the official Hannover 96 website, Pascal Helle, Head of Marketing and Sales at Hannover 96 said the following: “From the moment we first discussed the idea of this very special special jersey, all of our contacts at Macron were enthusiastic about realizing this project with us.
“A big thank you at this point goes to our main sponsor BRAINHOUSE247 and our sleeve partner Xylem, who we were able to convince very quickly not to have their presence on the special jersey. Just like that We were able to design an authentic jersey that was reminiscent of our last German championship.”
The jersey will be debuted on 16th March against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Hannover currently sit 5th in Bundesliga 2 and will be hopeful of a strong finish to the campaign.
