FC Basel, crowned Swiss Super League champions for the eighth season in a row, teased the release of their 2017-18 home kit.
Their second game in next season’s Champions League will be their 100th in Europe’s elite competition. The marketing people are hoping for a home game, to give the match a real party atmosphere.
The league and cup double is within their grasp with the Swiss Cup final against FC Sion taking place in Lancy on 25th May. Basel won 3 – 0 in Sion on the opening day of the league season, with the return taking place a week before the cup final.
FC Basel 2017-18 Home Kit
The teased images of the 2017-18 FC Basel home kit show the traditional red and blue halves return.
Football lore has it that Barcelona founder Joan Gamper took the colours with him to Catalunya hence the blaugrana.
The new season sees a red right half and blue on the left. No indication yet whether the back will be halved or a solid black as it was this season.
The shirt comes with a white, two-button Henley collar. Other trim is expected to be white.
While other clubs print their crest on shirts, Basel use a sewn version. It is little touches like this which add an elegant finish to the design.
