Nicknamed The Dark Blues, Dundee FC are hoping that their priceless three points against Hamilton are enough to see them in the highest tier of Scottish football next season. The goal from Kevin Holt which has all but secured the club’s safety came a day after Puma release their new home kit: a smart jersey with plenty to like and colours which are consistent with Dundee’s nickname.
The kit top is simply dark blue with lighter stripes running horizontally across the front. The club’s crest and Puma’s logo sit on the left and right hand side accompanying the club’s main sponsor below. The sleeves of the top remain dark blue, keeping the stripes well away and following onto the back giving a simple but strong effect. Across the tops of the arms, however, there are breathable strips of fabric, allowing the arms to breath and the player to keep cool even under the most intense Scottish pressure.
Fans have taken to Twitter after the relief on Saturday to express their feelings about the kit. Comments included:
“Absolutely love this kit!” and “Dead smart.”
The only negative comments to be found regularly are about the arms folded photo released by the club:
“Looks like a photo shoot for a boy band.” and “Is that the Dundonian Boyzone?”
The kit is completed with a pair of dark blue shorts and socks, each furthering the simplicity of this kit and ensuring that boldness is retained. Logos appear on the shorts and the socks, however they are the only frills that can be seen. Some fans are wishing that the shorts themselves were white but it seems that the mood is completely on board and excited for the next season.
Whether in the Scottish Championship or (more likely) the SPL, Dundee FC as a community are excited to get stuck in next season.
