The Copa América Centenario kicks off this summer and Costa Rica have unveiled the kit Los Ticos hope will inspire them as they face Paraguay, Colombia and hosts, the USA.
HOME JERSEY
Having wooed the world in 2014 World Cup, expectations will be raised for the reigning Copa Centroamericano holders in the summer of improving on their 5th place in 2001.
New Balance have come up with a simple design of a red shirt with white trim. It’s effective as combined with the blue shorts and white socks, completing the traditional kit.
If the national flag is eye-catching on the front, the country’s name is subtly included in white text in the middle of the neckline on the back.
AWAY KIT
As with the home kit, New Balance have kept the away kit simple, reversing the colour scheme. White is the dominant colour with the vivid red collar and cuffs providing a classic contrast.
Across the neck at the back, ‘Costa Rica’ appears in red with the “Limited Edition 2016” motif stitched into the inside of the colour.
With the vast array of kit designs at club and national level, the Costa Ricans prove that sometimes simple is the best.
