The last game of the season is going to contain untold drama for the bottom half of the Championship with Bolton, Barnsley, Birmingham, and Burton Albion all needing a positive result from this weekend. Against the backdrop of the potential drama which is due to envelop the second tier of English football, Tag reveal the club’s 2018/19 kits, both home and away.
Home
The home kit simply contains the club’s colours: yellow and black. Two black triangular stripes come up from the bottom and two from the top, not quite meeting in the middle. The black features again across the shoulders and outlining the collar, although the front of the collar is yellow, giving the effect of an undone bowtie at a wedding. Much like the bowtie, has Burton Albion’s season become unravelled? *Crickets*
It’s clear that Tag have wanted to stamp their unique design onto the kit, the unique stripes being seen in the kit design logo. The striking characteristics follow onto the away kit which is fresh and bold.
Away
Here, Liam Boyce stares the camera down while wearing the away jersey. The special stripes are once again seen, representing the club’s colours and the collar pattern is also reflected with white instead of yellow – which is more subtle and perhaps works a little better. The yellow tapering on the sleeves is subtle and the black across the shoulders finishes the look off nicely.
We’re just not sure what to think of the triangular stripes.
Whether they’ll be playing football in the Championship or will be relegated to League One, Tag have certainly created a kit which will be a talking point for the next season, perhaps distracting from the dire football on the pitch. Improvements in their game can be made and we look forward to seeing the Brewers in their new kits.
