In a grand celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU), the much-anticipated Bulgaria 2023 Centenary Kit has been officially released. This impressive kit designed by Macron, pays homage to Bulgaria’s football history while also drawing inspiration from the iconic Great Basilica of Pliska, an architectural complex which includes a cathedral, a palace, and a monastery.

The primary colour of the anniversary kit is gold with navy-blue accents, which is always a fitting choice for momentous occasions like this. The front of the shirt is designed with a graphic which is inspired by the floor pattern of the Great Basilica of Pliska. This medieval religious monument stands as a historical symbol of Bulgaria, adding a layer of cultural depth to the jersey. Additionally, Bulgaria’s special logo, designed exclusively for the BFU’s anniversary, proudly adorns the back of the neck in navy-blue.

Moreover, the basketball-style shorts, coloured in navy-blue, feature a white stripe bordered by two gold stripes at the leg bottoms. The whole fit is completed with gold socks, decorated with a knitted navy-blue top.

Despite Bulgaria’s setback in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying Group G, securing four draws and facing four defeats in eight matches, they prepare to strengthen their squad and fight for their spot in future national competitions. Simultaneously, the team celebrates the 100 years since the foundation of the Bulgarian Football Union. Finally, this centenary kit is anticipated to be worn by star players, including their top scorer in the European qualifiers for 2024 with three goals, Kiril Despodov, along with Ilia Gruev and Filip Krastev.
