Brighton’s 2023/2024 Rainbow Campaign Fan-Designed Kit

To mark the importance of the Rainbow Lace’s campaign, Brighton and Hove Albion released a public art competition, open to anyone who wished to design a special edition Rainbow kit for Brighton to wear. This was to commemorate the Rainbow Laces campaign, a campaign to support the LGTBQ + community, a campaign the English Premier League has continued to strongly push. It was 14-year-old Livs Cook who won the competition, with her clever design being incorporated into a real kit, made and produced by Nike. (See below)

A clever design, incorporating the Rainbow design, atop Brighton’s traditional blue and white stripes. The phrase “Make Sport Everyone’s Game” is emblazoned across the bottom of the kit. Brighton wore the strip during their warm-up on December 6th against Brentford (see below) and is a nice gesture in continued support of Rainbow Laces.

The decision to open the design to the public also was a nice gesture and is something other clubs should consider. Having the Rainbow kit as the warm-up strip was sadly all that could be posed, given the many colours potentially clashing with many other side’s kits. However, there could be room for all Premier League sides to release fourth kits, special edition kits, to help show their support as well in future. A nice gesture from Brighton and Hove Albion, and a great design by Livs Cook.
