Chelsea unveil their 2016/17 home kit on Wednesday, opening the possibility that it will make its’ bow in the final home game of the season against newly-crowned champions, Leicester City.
Three years into their ten-year kit deal, Adidas have kept faith with the all-blue kit Chelsea have been wearing since the 1960s.
In keeping with the German manufacturers other designs for next season, the legendary three white stripes are discreetly hidden away, running from the under arm to waist on both sides of the shirt where they meet with the trim on the blue shorts.
Inspired by the club’s badge, the shirt has darker blue images of the Chelsea Lion on the front and back of the top.
It’s proving a controversial move with some Chelsea supporters calling the shirt “cheap” and “a step backwards”. With the club currently languishing in ninth place in the Premier League table, fans had been hoping for a boost going into the summer with a stylish new kit to wear with pride.
We’ll find out this week if those fears are realised at the launch!
