It’s a busy day in Serie A, with AS Roma the first of the trio of big clubs to unveil their 2016/17 kits. The GIallorossi had seen images of their kit leak onto the web recently which scarcely did the full majesty of the kit justice.
Seeking to improve on last season’s third place, the Romans are looking to further strengthen their back line having secured the services of Wojciech Szczesny on loan for another season.
AS Roma 2016/17 Home Kit
This is the home kit which AS Roma will wear during the 2016/17 season.
The kit, currently without a sponsor for the third consecutive season, is predominantly maroon. The absence of logos and insignia may not be financially sound but it renders the kit more aesthetically pleasing.
The body of the shirt contains darkened vertical pinstripes around the front and back, giving a tonal ribbed effect. The sleeves and shoulders do not contain the pinstripes and have clean, satin look. It’s an interesting reversal of the Nike template worn by international sides this summer.
The collar is a curved v-shape in yellow around the back and sides to the collarbone, with a darker maroon band underneath.
Nike’s trademark Swoosh is in yellow on the left breast, opposite the club crest on the right.
The shorts are also in maroon with only Nike and club insignia as trim. In keeping with Nike’s current design theme, the socks offer a stark contrast to the main colour of the kit. This time, Nike is using the yellow traditionally associated with the club.
The finishing touch offers a delightful finish to a superb kit.
