Arsenal Retro Shirts Released

Arsenal unveiled a collection of retro football shirts which celebrate great moments from the club’s history. Current stars modelled the Arsenal retro shirts as part of the promotional campaign this week.

The three shirts celebrate the 1971 double and the dramatic 1988-89 league title win.

It was the club’s first league title in 18 years and first FA Cup in almost as long. The trophies ended a bleak period in Arsenal’s history, coming a year after their first European triumph. The title was clinched with a 1 – 0 win at Tottenham whilst Liverpool were beaten 2 – 1 in the FA Cup final.

To many supporters, this shirt is the quintessential Arsenal home shirt.

Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez both model the 1988/89 title-winning shirt.

Ramsey wears the home shirt, with its tonal red stripes around the body, featuring the old club crest of a right-facing cannon.

Finally, Alexis Sanchez sports the most iconic kit in the club’s history. Worn at Anfield in 1989 when Michael Thomas’ last-gasp goal won the title on goals scored and consequently is regularly voted as the best away kit the club has ever worn

It is a simply delicious shirt. Yellow with the same tonal stripes as the home shirt. It has blue sleeves and red trim around the collar. Utterly gorgeous.
