Ajax have decided to make the decision to return to their classic club crest from next season onwards. The Eredivisie club have decided on their logo which was used between 1928-1991.
The most distinctive feature of the current Ajax badge is the depiction of a profile of a man’s head, which represents Ajax the Great. This Greek mythological legend was first introduced in 1928 and has been a central part of the badge ever since. The head represents the Greek hero known for his bravery and fighting spirit, which aligns with the club’s ethos. In the 2021/22 season, we saw Ajax briefly return to the classic crest, using it on their home shirt for the campaign.
It was a disastrous 2023/24 season for the Amsterdam based side which saw the club go trophyless and finish 5th in the Dutch Eredivisie. The four times UEFA Champions League winners will be hopeful that the 2024/25 campaign will be a successful one under new manager Francesco Farioli. They are currently sat 3rd in the Eredivisie.
In other news, FC Basel have launched their unique Basilisk shirt.
