Sometimes you find a kit takes your breath away. But enough about Ayr United’s kit launch, let’s pay closer attention to the Trabzonspor away kit for 2017-18.
The Turkish side first came to my attention in 1976. Facing Liverpool in the European Champions Cup, Trabzonspor won the first leg 1 – 0 before losing 0 – 3 at Anfield in the return. That season the Reds went on to beat Borussia Monchengladbach in the final in Rome.
The Black Sea Storm left a lasting impression. Shortly after the Liverpool tie, there was a comic strip in the Roy of the Rovers magazine, noting the sun set low over the top of the stand as a penalty was drilled home, uncannily like the situation when Cemil Usta scored the only goal in the October meeting.
Trabzonspor 2017-18 Away Kit
This is the Trabzonspor 2017-18 away kit:
If only Nike would show such originality with their other kits. The rest are stuck with dreary template of contrasting shoulders and body; Trabzonspor take that and kick it into touch.
The multi-coloured diamonds are highly unusual on anything other than a goalkeepers shirt but make this a shirt to remember.
It’s not a unique design but it’s very eyecatching and one which is a breath of fresh air in the Nike stable.
