At the same time as releasing the new strip, Liverpool unveiled the goalkeeper home kit as well. While the outfield players design is full-on retro, the goalkeepers are less fortunate.
It’s in keeping with the club’s style of play this season. While riding high in the Premier League, you can’t shake the notion that goalkeepers are an after-thought at Liverpool.
Simon Mignolet regained his place in the starting line-up after Loris Karius proved more hapless than the Belgian. Despite this, Liverpool are on course for a place in next season’s Champions League.
Liverpool 2017-18 Goalkeeper Home Kit
This is the strip Liverpool goalkeepers will be wearing next season when the club uses the home kit:
The strip is all-green, using the traditional goalkeeper’s colour scheme. Logos and motifs are all white, as is the club’s 125th anniversary badge, newly redesigned for the new season. A dark green pattern covers the sleeves.
On the reverse of the shirt is the Hillsborough memorial motif. Again this is in white, as opposed to the outfield players kit where it appears in yellow.
The shorts are the same shade of green as the shirt and feature a white New Balance logo with the rear hemline hosting a white bar.
