DC United completed their pre-season with a 3 – 2 win over Philadelphia Union in the Suncoast Invitational. Their only defeat came against Montreal Impact by 4 goals to 2. United must be sick of the site of them that was the same scoreline in last season’s playoff.
This year, their target is to improve on that. They begin their campaign with the visit of Sporting Kansas City this weekend.
DC United 2017 Away Kit
This is the DC United 2017 away kit:
The shirt features a striking graphic pattern across the chest. Representing the eagle’s wings from the club crest, it begins at shoulder level in black while each of the lower ‘feathers’ gradually lightens.
The collar and shirt cuffs are both black while the sleeces are red, with the Adidas Three Stripes in white across the shoulder.
Above the player identification area on the back is an embroidered “District of Columbia”. On the front of the shirt, the ‘jock tag’ is styled as a vehicle licence plate, right down to the phrase “Taxation without Representation”.
It’s a striking design from the club and Adidas, which is a welcome relief after last year’s dull summer fare. The MLS releases have been a major stepping up to the plate by the German company. Can they see it through the rest of the year doing the same?
