PSG Wear Coupe De France Celebration Kit

PSG Wear Coupe De France Celebration Kit

On 5th January 1917, the forerunner of the French Football Federation created the Coupe de France. Henri Delaunay, who was commemorated when the original European Championship trophy was named after him, championed the competition. It took place in 1917-18 when 48 teams entered.

To celebrate the memory of the occasion, PSG wore a commemorative third shirt during the 4 – 0 win at Stade Rennais in this year’s competition. In the next round, PSG has been drawn away at Niort, a second division club, and will wear this kit once more due to a colour clash with their host’s home kit.

Paris St Germain Coupe de France Celebration Kit

Based on the stylish PSG third kit released last September, there were subtle changes, as well the obvious change of sponsor.

The most noticeable change is the introduction of PMU as sponsors for the PSG Coupe de France campaign. Their green logo is certainly more striking and noticeable than the ‘Qatar Airways’ motif displayed on the Ligue Un shirts.

On the front of the shirt, a commemorative badge sat proudly in the middle of the chest, denoting PSG as cup holders. They won  2016’s competition by beating Marseille 4 – 2, in the final. It meant they completed the domestic treble for the second consecutive season.

The shirt itself features the standard black of the original trim, in the collar and side stripes. As well as these, the pearlescent badge remains, a unique and spectacular design success for Nike.
