Liverpool have released their final 2016/17 kit for the summer. The third strip is an alternative to the home and away kits from New Balance.
The launch involved new signing Sadio Mane, who joined from Southampton earlier this summer, as well as Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge, both of whom were involved in the Euro 2016 tournament in France.
Neither will remember their time there with particular fondness with Germany and England failing to meet their own expectations.
Sturridge had marginally the better time personally, nabbing England’s late winner against Wales.
LIVERPOOL 2016/17 THIRD KIT
This is the third kit Liverpool will wear during the coming season.
Bright, isn’t it? Bruce Springsteen wouldn’t have just been blinded by the light if this kit had been around in those days!
The, ahem, ‘Toxic’ green – New Balance’s own description, not ours – base colour provides a stark contrast with the grey and white shoulder and sleeve panels. Or more accurately, some respite.
At which point, you’re expecting the shorts to be the grey colour. You’d be wrong. Yes, ‘Toxic’ green as well; so are the socks.
It’s a kit the players may need a licence to wear in public!
The goalkeepers get off lightly by comparison. Light grey, that is or ‘Alloy’ grey as New Balance term it:
It’s a standard template from New Balance with the shorts and socks the same ‘Alloy’ grey.
All of the kits come with the Hillsborough memorial motif on the back, centrally under the neckline. On the bottom hemline, the inspirational phrase is “LIVERPOOL PLAYERS MUST PLAY LIKE A LION”.
Without question, it is a vivid kit combination and once seen, is never forgotten!
