Manchester City recently released their 2016/17 home kit, with the away kit leaked as well. Now images have surfaced of what purports to be City’s third kit. It’s an interesting design, lending itself to pre-match or training wear as much as the third kit.
With City facing the Champions League qualifying play-off in mid-August thanks to their fourth place Premier League finish, this top is likely to see an early European debut.
Manchester City 2016/17 Third Kit
City have previously issued away kits in red, albeit a much darker hue than this. The shirt, pictured below, is in fact orange across the sleeves and shoulders. The collar is a curved v-shape, orange at the back round to each collarbone before descending into a mix of orange and purple horizontal stripes.
The body of the shirt is covered with horizontal tonal purple stripes swapping thickness with the orange background as they travel down the shirt.
Sponsor, Etihad Airlines, see their logo in the centre of the shirt in white, with Nike’s Swoosh similarly coloured. The club crest with its’ prominent white colouring, stands out on the left breast.
Without question, it’s a bright kit; vivid would be a kind word to describe it. Quelling the colour clash a little – but not by much – is the news that City will sport purple shorts.
Whether this is the third kit will become known shortly. Rumours that it will come with a pair of sunglasses have yet to be denied!
