Suffering heartbreaking relegation isn’t the best backdrop to a kit launch but VfB Stuttgart are facing up to their 2.Bundesliga future. 2015/16 was painful for the club based in southern Germany but they can’t say they weren’t warned after narrowly avoiding the drop a year before.
With the Puma-designed home kit already released, VfB Stuttgart are ready for the coming campaign with this away and third kit release. New head coach, Josh Luhukay, just needs to work on the squad.
VfB Stuttgart 2016/17 Away Kit
This is the VfB Stuttgart 2016/17 away kit.
Puma has replicated the template used for the home kit, taking the unusual step of mixing a red-bodied shirt with a red horizontal hoop.
The deep red body is a clean design, covering the front and back of the shirt. The hoop, a lighter shade of red, travels the body, front and back, but also on the sleeves. As the players line-up before kick-off, the visual impact of the stripe will be stunning.
The shorts and socks use the deep red colour.
VfB Stuttgart 2016/17 Third Kit
This is the third kit which VfB Stuttgart will wear during the 2016/17 season.
Silver-grey forms the base colour, with Puma consistent in the shirt design. A black hoop travels the circumference of the body of the shirt. The curved v-shaped collar is also black. On the back, under the collar, is the motif, ‘1893’, representing the year of the club’s foundation.
From the neckline to the sleeve cuffs rests a black stripe. On the home and away shirt, the colours are white and red respectively so are lost in the overall colour scheme. With the silver-grey base, it provides a striking contrast.
The shorts and socks will both be black, featuring silver-grey trim.
It’s a fine third kit, and a pleasing colour contrast to the home and away strips. VfB Stuttgart have only been relegated twice before, the last time 41 years ago. Here’s to a quick return to the top flight.
