Ajax have released their away kit for the upcoming 2016/17. Top of Eredivisie on goal difference, de Godenzonen travel to De Graafschap this afternoon knowing that a win will see them crowned champions for the 34th time. Just a couple more to go, Claudio…
For next season, the club has adopted a navy blue, grey and aqua colour scheme with a nod to the city of Amsterdam’s coat of arm with three vertical St. Andrew’s crosses down the centre of the shirt.
With a dark navy body, Adidas presents a distinctive contrasting grey sleeve, finished with an aqua and navy blue cuff. The manufacturers trademark three stripes are minimally represented across the shoulder, stopping at the top of the sleeve.
Jasper Cillessen has an equally distinctive kit and one which may cause referees to pause for thought. The diamond-decorated shoulders give the appearance of a similar colour to the body of the shirt but the black finish is deceptive.
Crucially, the sleeves are the same colour, providing the noticeable difference to his defenders but with the eyesight of referees question all around the world, Ajax may be taking a huge risk with the similarity!
