During the 1980s, AC Milan revived their European glories and became one of Europe’s greatest clubs. The last decade has seen those standards slip but leaked photos of what might be their kit for next season show, the club is modernising. With new Chinese owners set to take over at the San Siro, is the sleeping giant awakening?
Firmly keeping its’ roots in the club’s traditions, the kit will be the famous red and black stripes worn with pride by some of football’s greatest players.
The black collar and sleeves provide a striking contrast with the red stripes – signalling the players’ passion for playing for the club – running the full length of body before dripping into the black waistline. The back of the shirt is likely to be entirely black, symbolising the fear their opponents feel when they face the Rossoneri, and black shorts.
The club badge has been overhauled as well.
The key components remain – red and black stripes adjoining the flag of Milan – but the shape is smoother, merging into a football with the club’s name, “Milan” atop, and encircled in gold rather than the red and black.
Is it back to the future at the San Siro with a new brand reclaiming past successes?
