Who are the Mamelodi Sundowns? Well, did you read our piece about the Orlando Pirates’ home and away kits? No. Okay, well did you read the piece about the Kaizer Chiefs’ two latest kits? Also no. Well we’re a little hurt but we’ll fill you in anyway.
The Mamelodi Sundowns are a South African Team who compete in the PSL. Currently, after only two games played, the team hold six points. Last season the Sundowns finished their campaign in first place, taking home the title with 60 points from 30 games. Manager Pitso Mosimane will hope that his team can do the double and win the title in two consecutive seasons.
To help them clinch a second title, the club have teamed up with Puma to create a bright, bold, eye-catching home kit that fans will love. Furthermore it’s one that doesn’t push the envelope too much or break the mould entirely. We at UK Soccer Shop quite like this kit. But then we are suckers for a yellow kit.
Across the front of the Mamelodi Sundowns’ kit are a number of horizontal, zig-zag lines that are thin at the bottom and thick at the top. These zig-zags even out across the sleeves, giving the kit extra depth and positive shape.
The front and back of the simple neckline is green. Furthermore, while this green doesn’t feature on the sleeve tapering, it is the perfect contrasting colour and a symbol of South African identity.
On the chest of the kit sits the club’s crest, Puma’s logo, and the club’s main sponsor – Ubuntu Botho: an investment bank. The kit top is finished with blue shorts, an interesting third colour to use instead of green.
We at UK Soccer Shop do really like this kit because it has a unique pattern and bold, bright colouring.
