The beginning of June. Do you remember that? When it used to rain, instead of being this perpetually hot country we now inhabit. It was a time before England crashed out of the World Cup and a peak time for clubs to be releasing their latest football kits. On the 13th June we showed you Hull City’s 2018/19 home kit. We thought it was simple, eye-catching, and excellent. Carrying on this theme, Umbro have crafted the club an away kit that is just as simple and equally as eye-catching. Manager, Nigel Adkins, will hope that his team can push up the Championship and chase down relegation, is this the kit to help him do so?
The kit itself is black. A very good start, in our books. When we have to spend ten minutes Googling a particular colour in order to describe it, that’s never good. But here, black and orange come together to create a really sharp kit.
The body is black, allowing the club’s crest, Umbro’s logo and Hull City’s main sponsor to stand out appropriately.
Around the bottom of the sleeves we see Umbro’s trademark tapering once again. It has featured on almost all of their 2018/19 kit creations and works incredibly well in this instance. On Hull City’s away kit, the bright orange and black are contrasted nicely.
The neckline is simple and circular, with no classic frills or buttons. Around it is an orange line which is a centimetre away from the neck itself. This simply adds to the completeness, matching the gaps in the sleeve Tapering.
While there isn’t too much extra-curricular (so to speak) stuff to talk about, everything that Umbro has done has been done well. If we were to sum the kit up in one word it would be: complete.
We look forward to seeing this kit worn in Hull City’s 2018/19 campaign.
