Cape Town City Reveal Their 2018/19 Home and Away Kits by Umbro

On Monday, we showed you the Orlando Pirates’ latest home and away kits, then it was the turn of the Kaizer Chiefs. Today, let’s take a look at Cape Town City’s home and away kits.

Cape Town City, like the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, play in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League. In their 2017/18 campaign, Benny McCarthy’s team finished in fifth place. This isn’t a bad result by any stretch of the imagination. However, fans will be hoping to see their team within the top three next season.

In the current transfer window, the club have just signed Ajax goalkeeper, Peter Leeuwenburgh. It will be hoped that he can bolster the squad and push the team up the league table.

But let’s take a look at the kits.

The home kit is blue. Not a dulled, sensible shade, but a bright blue that, combined with the strong yellow features, make it an incredibly eye-catching kit. The aforementioned yellow is seen as the club’s crest, Umbro’s log, the sponsors across the chest and the tapering.

We once again see Umbro’s trademark tapering along the sleeves. We’ve seen it plenty of times before but here it really works to complete the jersey design. Across the shoulders is a darker shade of blue to give Cape Town’s kit top more character.

While the home kit is excellent in its bold, bright way, the away kit, in our humble opinion is a masterpiece.

It is seemingly a white and black kit top, nothing too exciting there. However, to save it from being tossed in the boring bin, the jersey is striped horizontally with grey and white stripes. These lines go across the sleeves and around the back too. On the away kit, Umbro have opted for a semi-classic collar with buttons and their trademark tapering can be seen once again in black.

Which kit do you prefer? They’ve each received largely positive reviews from fans, but what do you think?
