Schalke’s Lime-Green Third Kit Has Divided Fans. What do You Think?
FC Schalke 04 are a team who play in Germany. Right now, as of writing this, the club are sat in 17th position. The league consists of 18 teams. As Schalke has steadily fallen down the table, they’ve released their home and away kits. Furthermore, perhaps this positioning is the reason behind the bad press of the third kit. Let’s take a look at what we said about the home and away kits:
“The home kit is deep blue. Schalke’s new home kit stands out as an uncompromising recognition of their heritage.
Gelsenkirchen, the city that Schalke 04 is located, is a coal mining town.
The way that Umbro have chosen to represent this coal mining history is to place a pick and hammer within the crazy pattern on the front of the jersey. There are several of these shapes and once you see it, it is quite hard to un-see.
On the nape of the kit top are the words ‘Wir leben dich,’ or ‘we live you.’
The away kit is a light grey. It ditches the hammer and pick pattern on the front, however still retains the club’s motto on the nape and Umbro’s tapering on the sleeves. Furthermore, the neckline is a hybrid of classic collar and simple neckline.”
The third kit is apple green. This is a strong look, especially when it’s contrasted with dark blue. Running around the bottom of each sleeve is Umbro’s trademark pattern: Inter-linked Umbro logos. We’ve seen this pattern a number of times over the past few months and in our opinion it works very well here.
The kit also features something incredibly interesting; A computer chip is located within the sleeve. This chip allows the fan to buy food from the stadium contactless and without cash.
