Vasco da Gama Reveals Their 2018/19 Third Kit by Diadora
Who are Vasco da Gama and Why Should We Care About Their Latest Kit?
The question on everyone’s lips right now is, ‘who is Vasco da Gama?’ That’s the question that this author is asking. They’ve released an excellent, simple, effective third kit. The club competes in Brazil, in Brasiliero Serie A. Vasco da Gama was founded in 1898 by a group of Portuguese immigrants. The team plays at the Estadio Sao Januario and their manager is named Alberto Valentim. Because of Brasiliero Serie A’s late season start (April, rather than August), the league has already taken shape. Furthermore, Vasco da Gama is in 16th place.
So now we know about the team, why are we talking about them? Well, as mentioned, the club released their latest third kit to much fanfare. Well, little fanfare. This author saw the kit release and loved it. Simplicity while retaining excellence is a treasured factor, here at UK Soccer Shop.
Vasco da Gama’s third kit is black. On the chest of the jersey is the club’s iconic red cross. The cross reflects the club’s roots by using a similar cross to that belonging to the Portuguese.
The neckline is a simple one. It is bordered with thick white material so appears to be a more built-up collar. This neckline appears to overlap at the front, giving Vasco da Gama’s third kit some excellent character.
Surrounding the club’s crest is a compass. Furthermore, a Tudor tall ship sails under the right arm of the kit. This perhaps reflects the colonising and exploring nature of the Portuguese founders.
We see on the nape of the jersey a commemorative badge, marking 120 years since the club’s foundation. It is a historically reflective kit top and also features breathable technology under the arms. This allows players to feel at their most calm, even when under intense pressure.
