Red Bull Salzburg’s Brilliant New Third Kit Seems Simple but Popular.
In football, the words ‘Red Bull,’ are often held in a negative context. Red Bull Leipzig steam rollered their way from the fifth division of German football, right into the Champions’ League in very quick succession. While they’ve proven themselves an unpopular club for their ruthless money-centric tactics, Red Bull Salzburg has been an existing football club in Austria since the early 1930s. Therefore, despite pushing their way to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga, Red Bull Salzburg have been able to remain under the radar. The club has teamed up with Nike to create a third kit that is eye-catching, stunning, and simple.
Let’s take a look.
The kit’s colour is red. The body is a darker shade while the sleeves are much brighter. This colour contrast adds to the dynamic nature of Red Bull Salzburg’s third kit. Furthermore, the darker shade acts as the perfect blank canvas for white design elements such as the club’s crest, their main sponsor, and Nike’s iconic Swoosh. Running around the simple neckline is a darker line. This line creates the illusion of a classic collar, without sacrificing any practicality.
On one sleeve of Red Bull Salzburg’s third kit is the logo of Respect, an organisation within football that seeks to expose any wrong-doing at any level, whether grassroots or top division. On the other is that of the Austrian Bundesliga. Keeping the chest of Red Bull Salzburg’s third kit as un-cluttered as possible is a positive, smart design decision. Furthermore, it’s one that has resonated positively with fans, who see the kit as a welcome addition to the club.
Right now, after eight games, it’s looking like the Red Bulls will be the team to beat. We look forward to seeing who can compete for the 2018/19 title.
