Forest Green Rovers Reveal Their Ambitious 2018/19 Home Kit

Who are Forest Green Rovers and Why are We Talking About Them?

Here at UK Soccer Shop we never turn our noses up at a kit. Whether it’s the top of the Premier League or the bottom of League Two. Whether it’s highly ranked by FIFA or incredibly low. International or on our doorstep, we love football kits and it’s time to bring you another one. It’s a home kit belonging to Forest Green Rovers, but who are they?

Forest Green Rovers are a League Two-competing team from Nailsworth in Gloucestershire. They’re currently sat in seventh place, on the same number of points as Oldham, Swindon Town, and Stevenage. Their manager, Mark Cooper, will want to see his team push up the table and into the promotional places. To do so, they teamed up with PlayerLayer, arguably the best kit designer’s name, to craft an excellent home jersey.

The chest of the kit consists of bright, luminous green, and dark black hoops. This colour contrast combination works well and has so far been received positively by the fans. Furthermore, on top of this rich, blank canvas are the club’s crest, PlayerLayer’s logo, and Forest Green Rovers’ main sponsor: Ecotricity.

We at UK Soccer Shop always love it when a kit designer utilises the nape of the jersey to add an extra element. Here, the letters, ‘FGR,’ are prominently displayed with three stars above – one is solid to represent the club’s promotion in 2017, and the remaining two are greyed out to demonstrate Forest Green Rovers’ commitment to pushing for promotion. In the press release, the club also highlights the charity logo of Sea Shepherd which can be seen on the back of the jersey. The charity’s objective is to conserve marine life around the world.

The kit is bright, bold, and simple. What do you think?
