Peru Revealed Their Red and White 2018/19 Home Kit by Macron
The Sash is Back Once Again. This Time It’s Peruvian.
What, in this author’s head, is Peru most famous for? Paddington Bear, of course. He’s the marmalade munching, red hat-wearing bear who lives with the Brown family. Peru is also famous for Machu Picchu and the historic Incas. In recent years the country has also been making a name for itself in the footballing world. Currently ranked 20th by UEFA, they sit just ahead of Italy and behind Wales in the rankings. Despite not leaving the group stage at Russia’s 2018 World Cup, the country should be proud of reaching the tournament.
While we’re a few months past the World Cup now and any international football is more of a nuisance during the season, rather than anything to get excited about, we want to bring you Peru’s latest home kit. Elephant in the room: it features a sash.
The kit’s main colouring is white. Usually this is something quite difficult to mess up. We have only seen it a couple of times. Most notably – New York Cosmos’ 2018/19 away kit. Our biggest bug-bear is that it appears both empty and cluttered at the same time. That isn’t the case for Peru’s home kit.
One sleeve of the kit is white and the other is red. As mentioned, running diagonally across the front of the jersey is a large, red sash. Within the sash sits the club’s crest and outside of it is Macron’s logo.
Perhaps the most interesting design element appears under the arms of the kit. Two thin red lines run from the bottom of the sleeves down to the bottom of the kit top. Inside the lines are three red circles and Peru’s flag (inside a fourth circle).
The neckline is a simple one, and on the nape are the words, “La Blanquirroja.”
