Spartak Moscow Released Their 2018/19 Home Kit by Nike

Russia. Over the summer we glued ourselves to the television screens and watched the World Cup. Before arriving, most people were afraid of aggressive hooliganism and the sort of terror that appeared at the 2016 Euros. It turned out not to be the case. Furthermore, it was an excellent tournament which really showed off exactly what Russian football was all about. After winning 5-0 against the Arab Emirates, fans suddenly knew that Russian football was a serious game, and they wouldn’t be pushovers. A club that demonstrates this, perhaps more than any other, is Spartak Moscow.

Arguably Russia’s most successful club, Spartak Moscow has won, according to Wikipedia (a wonderful source), twelve Soviet Championships and ten Russian ones. At the helm of the club is manager Massimo Careera and the club are currently in the news because forward Luiz Adriano has been given a three match ban for striking an opponent during a Champions League game.

Having already played five games, the club are currently sat in second place with 13 points. This is behind Zenit who have taken all 15 points so far. To help Spartak Moscow take the title over the coming season, they’ve teamed up with Nike. The two have created an excellent home kit that is both simple and effective.

The kit colouring is red. For any fans, that isn’t a surprise. Furthermore, on the front of the jersey is a checkerboard pattern made out of rectangles. This gives the kit character and acts as the perfect blank canvas for the Spartak Moscow’s crest, their main sponsor and Nike’s iconic Swoosh. The pattern can also be seen across the back of the jersey.

They’re arguably the biggest club in Russia and have had their latest kit designed by the biggest sport brands in the world. Most fan have received the kit positively. What do you think?
