What are our favourite things to see when it comes to a new football kit? Well, here at UK Soccer Shop, we value simplicity above almost any other features. To over-complicate and clutter a kit is to detract from the overall design. Over the past few months we’ve seen some hall of fame-worthy kits, as well as the very opposite of this idea. Today we want to bring you AC Milan’s third kit. It screams simplicity (if that’s something screamable), and really does look excellent. Previously we’ve brought you their red and black home kit, their white away kit, and now the black third kit.
The club is yet to play their first 2018/19 league game but Gennaro Gattuso will want his team to get off to a flying start. Furthermore, clubs like Juventus have played one game and picked up all three points. AC Milan’s first game is against Napoli tomorrow evening. A crucial fixture and a tough one too.
The body of the club’s third kit is black. This blank canvas allows the club’s main sponsor and Puma’s logo to stand out perfectly in white.
The sleeves are where the kit gains most of its character. They have a red and black, matted appearance and run right up to the simple neckline and across the shoulders. Remaining un-tapered was, in our opinion, the correct, positive choice to make and allows the kit to remain uncluttered.
On the nape of the kit top, as mentioned in our pieces about the home and away kits, is a tiny red devil. This is the club’s mascot.
It has been almost eight years since the club won the league title. With the arrival of Christiano Ronaldo at Juventus most fans will be wondering if the title is really up for grabs this season. Either way, most clubs in Serie A will have prepared appropriately for the Portuguese superstar’s arrival.
