If you’re an Ipswich Town fan, you might be uttering the famous words of Moss from the IT Crowd this morning. “Did you see that ludicrous display last night?” Broadcast to millions (realistically, thousands) of people around the world, Ipswich took a 2-0 beating at Derby County last night. It seemed to be a close game with clever play from both sides until Joe Ledley’s 1-0 strike from just outside the box. Rips appeared around the seams for the Tractor Boys. Tom Lawrence was able to slot one home from a freekick. Something that he was known to do at Portman Road.
Eager eyes watching the game will have noticed Derby County’s home kit. We showed you the jersey a month or two back and then showed off their away kit. Now, with the Championship well underway, we want to bring you the club’s third kit. It’s bright, simple, and carries Umbro’s trademark tapering.
In the press release, the main colour is, “Grey Dawn,” and the secondary colour which can be seen across the shoulders is, “Zen Blue.” These two colours combine to create a well-contrasted kit.
The third colour on the third kit is a lime green colour which only adds character to this already balanced contrast. The neckline is simple. Featuring this zesty lime which can also be seen around the bottom of each sleeve. Furthermore, the sleeves incorporate Umbro’s quality tapering. We saw this interlinked diamond pattern on both Derby’s home and away kits, it is interesting to see it here. Slightly lost underneath the eye-catching green, the tapering still adds character to the kit.
This kit, while being perfectly balanced (bright and more muted tones), initially seems a little empty. However it is the black emblems and logos on the front that ensure this isn’t an empty-looking kit top.
